Tuesday: Map coloring & 4-level analysis, AND U.S. Agricultural Regions (p.5 of Agriculture in MDCs)
Mapping Instructions:
You will create three world maps that illustrate the major production areas of different agricultural commodities. Use different symbols / colors for each product. Map 1: Corn, Wheat and Rice Map 2: Cattle, Swine, Sheep Map 3: Tea and Coffee For each map complete the geographic investigative process. Level 1 – What? Where? when? Level 2 – Pattern Identification Level 3 - Why and How? Level 4 - So what? How can I use this information? Wednesday:
1. With a partner (meet me at....) pick 4 countries, 2 that practice subsistence farming and 2 that practice commercial farming. Find pictures of these types of farming and add drop pins to the regions where this farming would occur. In the summary section include a brief description of the type of farming practiced in that region. 2. Read From Mocha to Java, and complete the accompanying worksheet. After completing the worksheet, write down how the story of coffee relates to AP Human Geography (think: migration, economics, farming types, cultural factors, MDC v. LDC relationships, etc.) Thursday:
Poster Jigsaw on Types of Agriculture --> Take notes on Von Thunen's Model. Then complete coloring in the MN map, using different colors and symbols to demonstrate overlap of the agricultural regions. Make sure to adequately answer the prompt regarding if MN follows his model or not, and the question at the bottom. Be sure to use 3 specific examples to back up your argument! Friday:
Read the Green Revolution article about India, and answer the questions at the end. You do NOT need to write the essay on the bottom. :) Then peruse the websites on the left, as well as your own research. Be prepared to have a discussion of the pros & cons of GMO's. |
